Our builder renders your plate in real 3D – raised gel, laser-cut 4D characters, borders and all – so there are no surprises.
The builder checks character size, margins and plate width as you go and clearly labels anything that can only be a show plate.
Every upgrade and accessory is itemised. The price you see in the builder is the price you pay at checkout.

UK road-legal plates must use the prescribed font and character sizes, keep minimum margins, use a white front and yellow rear, and be made by a registered supplier who has checked your documents.
Short and custom plates are only road legal if your registration still fits at full size. Our builder works that out for you and tells you clearly if a design is a show plate.

Read the guide →UK law requires number plate suppliers to check your identity and your entitlement to the registration. Here's which documents count and why we ask for them.
Read the guide →A plate is only road legal if it meets the DVLA display rules (font, character size and spacing, margins, colours) and the British Standard, and is supplied by a DVLA-registered number plate supplier after checking your entitlement and ID. Our builder labels every design as either a road-legal layout or a show plate, and we only make road-legal plates once your documents are verified.
For road-legal plates you'll need proof of entitlement to the registration (usually your V5C logbook, or a V750/V778 certificate) and photo ID such as a driving licence or passport. You upload these securely at checkout. Show plates don't need documents.
3D gel plates have printed characters topped with a clear domed resin that gives a glossy, raised look. 4D plates use individually laser-cut acrylic characters bonded to the plate, available in 3mm or 5mm, for sharper edges and deeper shadows.
Yes – if your registration fits at full legal character size with the required margins. Shorter registrations often do; a full current-style registration needs around 460mm. If it won't fit, the builder will tell you and the plate can only be made as a show plate.
Plates are made to order and sent by Royal Mail tracked delivery. Delivery is free on plate orders over £40.00. Road-legal plates are made once your documents are verified. See delivery & returns for details.
Yes. You can add the UK national identifier with the Union flag. It sits on the left of the plate and needs extra width, which the builder accounts for automatically.
